ALC serves a unique role in the Austin ISD Educational Community. Our responsibility is to take the 1% of students that have demonstrated a lack of personal discipline and provide them with a consequence that is both educational and behavioral with the intention that they can return to their home campuses as positive members of their school communities. The students we serve are provided behavioral guidance through clearly defined expectations as a way to reinforce our educational framework that supports rigorous academics combined with social and emotional goals.

While attending ALC our students are prepared for any future endeavors by learning positive communication skills, self-discipline, positive and negative consequences, as well as, how to build and maintain relationships between peers and adults. Through programs like “Make It Right,” students learn that making mistakes is part of growing up and being human. However, learning from those mistakes and not making them again, is what demonstrates maturity and self-discipline. At the end of the day, the staff at ALC can proudly say “We Change Lives … One Student at a Time.”

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
